Make your biodata free

There is no official marriage biodata format in Bangladesh, but almost every family follows the same order. Stick to it and the other family finds what they need in seconds, and your biodata looks organised and trustworthy. This guide covers that order, a full sample, and the practical rules for page, font and photo.

The usual order of sections

  1. Heading and name. "Biodata for Marriage" at the top, your full name in large type below it, and a photo on the right (optional).
  2. Personal details. Date of birth, age, height, marital status, religion, nationality, and the districts of your present and permanent address. Blood group if you like.
  3. Education. Most recent degree first. Degree, institution, passing year and result read most clearly as a small table.
  4. Occupation. Profession, organisation and, if you choose, monthly income.
  5. Family details. Parents' names and occupations, number of brothers and sisters and whether they're married, and the type of family (nuclear or joint).
  6. Religious practice (optional). Important to many families; if you include it, place it after family details.
  7. About me. Two or three sentences on your nature, interests and outlook. Hobbies go here too.
  8. Partner expectations. Age range, education, location and anything else that truly matters.
  9. Contact. The guardian's name, relationship and mobile number. Always last.

The order isn't a rule. If your career is your strongest point, move occupation above education. In BanglaBiodata you can reorder any section in the "Arrange & settings" step.

Page, font and photo

  • Size: A4. One page is ideal; two if you have a lot to say, never more.
  • Font: clear and readable. If your biodata is in Bangla, check the PDF before sending: many apps and older software break Bangla conjuncts such as ক্ষ, ন্দ and স্ত.
  • Photo: recent, clear, top right. A plain background and natural light work best.
  • File: PDF for printing or email; an image (JPG or PNG) for WhatsApp and Messenger.
  • Colour: restrained. Maroon and gold or green and gold look traditional; black and white is safest for photocopies.

Bangla or English?

Most families in Bangladesh still exchange biodatas in Bangla, especially through relatives and matchmakers. An English biodata makes more sense for families abroad, mixed-language families, or when the person reading it is more comfortable in English. The format is the same either way; see our English biodata format guide for English wording tips.

What to leave out

Never include your National ID number, passport number, full home address or bank details. The full list is in What to include in a marriage biodata (and what to leave out).

The right format without the hassle

Every BanglaBiodata template follows this order. You only type your details: the template handles the order, fonts, page breaks and correct Bangla. Anything you leave empty simply doesn't appear. Browse the templates or start straight away; it's free.
