The usual order of sections

A girl's marriage biodata follows the same format as a boy's; in Bangla the heading reads পাত্রীর বায়োডাটা ("bride's biodata"), and in English simply "Biodata for Marriage". The usual order:

  1. Name and photo (the photo is optional)
  2. Personal details: date of birth, age, height, marital status, religion, districts of present and permanent address
  3. Education: most recent degree first
  4. Occupation (if any)
  5. Family details: parents' names and occupations, brothers and sisters, type of family
  6. Religious practice (optional)
  7. About me
  8. Partner expectations
  9. Contact: the guardian's name and number

Tips specific to a bride's biodata

  • Decide about the photo yourself. Sending the first version without one is perfectly normal. If you include one, make it recent, clear and modest. See What to include in a marriage biodata.
  • Be specific in About me. Instead of "a good girl", say what you enjoy and what kind of home feels right to you.
  • Write expectations respectfully. Cover age, education and location; don't set conditions about skin colour or looks.
  • Protect personal information. Never include a National ID number or full home address.

Islamic or Hindu bride biodata

For Muslim families, the Islamic, Noor and Sukoon templates include the Bismillah; for Hindu families, the Hindu and Alpona templates include "Shree Shree". See our Islamic biodata and Hindu biodata guides for the religious section.

Frequently asked questions

Does a girl's biodata need a photo?
No. Many families send it without a photo first and share one later with an interested family. On share links the photo can also be blurred or hidden.
Whose phone number should a bride's biodata show?
A guardian's, usually the father, mother or an elder brother. It's customary and safer.
Should income be included?
Mention the profession if there is one. Income is entirely optional.
Which template suits a bride's biodata?
Rose for a soft look, Sukoon or Islamic for a religious identity, and Classic for a traditional one are all popular.
Can I download it as a PDF?
Yes. PDF and image (PNG/JPG) downloads are both free: an image for WhatsApp, a PDF for printing.
